What a tech pack contains, what Tabi builds automatically, and where a PLM still belongs.
What is a tech pack?
The document a factory builds from. It carries the style identity, front and back flats, points of measure, construction details, materials and BOM, colorways, trims and artwork, production quantities, and the approval history. Whatever is missing becomes a question during sampling.
Does Tabi create tech packs?
Yes. Tabi assembles a development pack from the approved style version already in the workspace, so flats, measurements, materials, colorways, and review decisions come from the work instead of being retyped into a spreadsheet.
What is in a Tabi development pack?
Style identity, front and back flats, points of measure, construction details, materials and BOM, colorways, sizes and planned units, trims, artwork and treatments, category requirements, sign-offs, and the revision and approval history.
Do I have to type every measurement by hand?
No. Load a points-of-measure library for the garment category, import a measurement sheet from a spreadsheet, or add rows one at a time. Each point can be placed on the flat so the drawing and the table agree.
Can I edit materials, colorways, and sizes from the pack?
Yes. Materials and BOM, colorways, and the size range with planned units open in dialogs over the pack and save to the Style, so the record stays canonical without leaving the page.
What formats can I export a tech pack in?
A factory-ready PDF, structured JSON, a measurements CSV, a BOM CSV, and the front and back flats as SVG. Freezing a revision locks the specifications the export was made from.
Can I send a tech pack to a factory without giving them access?
Yes. A pack can go out as a read-only share link. The recipient sees that pack and nothing else in the studio, and the link can be revoked.
Where does Tabi fit in the PLM workflow?
Tabi owns the creative and development work that determines what gets produced: research, design, reviews, approvals, and the complete factory-ready pack. The approved style record is ready to move downstream into sourcing, compliance, production, and delivery systems without rebuilding the design history.
How do reviews and approvals work?
Discuss a version, record the call, and Tabi carries the unresolved parts into the next checkpoint as blockers and owned follow-ups instead of leaving them in a comment thread.
What happens to information that is still missing?
A readiness rail beside the pack counts what each section still needs: open measurements, unspecified materials, colorways awaiting review, category requirements without a value, and sign-offs still outstanding. Exporting with open items is allowed and says what is missing.
